Summer break is quickly approaching, meaning the kids will be home from school. Rainy days can drag on. (You can only watch so many movies!) Here’s a perfect kid-friendly craft using materials you already have. These washable placemats add a perfect splash of color to your table!

What you need (1).jpg

What you need:

  • Rolls of colored tape
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard cut into 11x16 pieces

Step 1 (2).jpg

Step 1: Use one color to cover the entire piece of cardboard (front and back).

Step 2 (2).jpg

Step 2: Pick a different color of tape to make horizontal stripes. There is no wrong way to do this. Be creative!

Step 3 (2).jpg

Step 3: Add in other colors of tape in various thicknesses in a vertical pattern. For plaid placemats, after you have made your vertical lines of tape, run tape horizontally in different patterns.
