How To Start The Whole30

Posted by Terra's Kitchen on Fri, Jan 12, '18

The Whole30, a 30-day nutritional detox diet, has risen in popularity to become one of the top diets of 2018. If the Whole30 is a part of your new year's resolution, for 30 days, you'll cut out all sugar, alcohol, dairy, grains, legumes, potatoes and most processed foods. Instead, you eat “real foods” like meat, seafood, vegetables, some fruits and nuts.

All foods on theWhole30 are “clean,” which simply means they're free of processed ingredients and additives. If you're used to shopping in the center aisles of the grocery store instead of cooking from scratch, you're going to need some help. Fortunately Terra's Kitchen can help with Whole30 compliant recipes, keep reading to learn more!

How It Works

The Whole30 works by eliminating foods containing dairy, sugar and gluten that trigger inflammation in the body’s cells, joints and organs. The Whole30 program eliminates these inflammatory foods allowing the body to take a break and heal. Over your 30 days in the program, your body’s metabolism resets as you reestablish a healthy diet of whole foods. Most people find that after 30 days, they no longer crave unhealthy processed foods.

Like Paleo, Whole30 encourages clean eating, but it's much more rigorous. The program doesn't allow any added flavorings, added sugars, and you aren't supposed to re-create indulgences like desserts (even with the approved Whole30 ingredients).

Whole30 Meal Delivery

Terra’s Kitchen and the Whole30 have a lot in common. All of our meals are created with fresh ingredients to be balanced, clean, plant-strong™, nutrient dense and feature heart-healthy fats. We even offer some meals that are specially designed to help you follow the Whole30 program. With all of our meals, each ingredient is portioned out and labeled, so it is easy to see exactly what is going into it. If needed, you can eliminate an ingredient (like cheese, for example) to stay on track with your Whole30 program. Instead of stressing, shopping, and spending a lot of time prepping your Whole30 meals, let TK home delivery meals do the hard work for you.

Here are a few of our Terra’s Kitchen pre prepared meals that will help make your month of the Whole30 a whole lot easier.

1.) Tilapia Salad with Arugula and Apples - Add it to your next vessel to eliminate some of the dreaded weekly meal prep! Just leave out the honey when making the dressing.

2.) Grilled Sirloin with Warm Tomato Salad and Sweet Pecans - This meal makes a wonderful dinner, and the Whole30 edit couldn't be easier. You probably guessed that you need to leave out the "sweet" ingredient. Omit the recipe's brown sugar on the pecans and everything else is permitted!

3.) Grab ‘n Go Berry Balsamic Salad - This is a great choice for lunch, and all you have to do is leave off the cheese when mixing your salad to stay in line with the Whole30. You don’t have to skip the dressing, either! We recommend picking up some Tessemae’s Dressings at your local grocery story because they are Whole30 approved.

5.) Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Grapes Over Tender Chicken - We love making this meal from the recipe card at home. It is quick to make, delicious, and will only leave you with two dirty dishes and a few utensils to wash!
